Our review course is open to anyone interested in preparing to take the American Board Opticianry Certification Exam. This course is going to be running at the same time as our other CE Education opportunities. Attendees are invited to join us with the other scheduled events, such as lunch and the vendor experience.

Description: This class will provide Opticians with an understanding of the foundations of the eye anatomy and optics that are necessary for your role with selecting the proper eyewear, dispensing, and troubleshooting.

Description: This class will provide Opticians the soft skill tools to build a relationship for life when recommending a lens solution. It is never about closing the sale!
’EYE’ Am a Frame Selection Expert!: Course 109
Description: This class will provide an in-depth understanding of how the frame selection plays its role with the prescription and the lens solution. This will be an interactive learning experience in a working through patient scenarios.
’EYE’ Deliver the WOW!: Course 113
Description: This course continues the path of creating long term relations by fostering every patient relationship during the delivery process. There are key items to have in place to gain the opportunities for life-long eyecare. It doesn’t stop at delivery!
Fitting Pediatrics

There is nothing like fitting children. The joy that occurs when helping them to see is one of the most rewarding aspects of working in the optical field. This course will help you to identify the unique fitting requirements for children’s frames, make adjustments to optical measurements to accommodate the needs of a child, create appropriate lens design adjustments based on the Rx, and design eyewear for children with unique fitting challenges.

This course is going to demonstrate some of the best and worst optical myths out there. There will be discussion while trying to bust the myths about fixing scratched lenses and more.
When to take manual measurements

When to take a manual PD is about recognizing the value of technology and it’s purpose but to also recognize when it’s not the best option based on each individual. This course also reviews the importance of measurement accuracy for pupil distance, optical centers, bifocal heights and prism induction.

This course is designed to get you to think about how target marketing can increase your profitability using those who play video games, virtual learners, sporting activities and more as a target consumer for your business. Looking at products available in both private and online settings compare how the ranges of filtration, return policy, prescription availability vary and how we as professionals need to be aware of the goods we are selling along with ways to begin capturing those missed opportunities.

This course is designed to give an overview on color, how we perceive it, perceive it differently, and how lighting can affect color. It goes into the function of rods and cones, color blindness, the various types of colorblindness, and how it affects one’s vision. In addition, it reviews occupations that may be affected by a lack of color perception and devices that are stated to assist in the perception of color.

In this course, the learner will gain a better understanding of the misconceptions patient consumers have about the need for proper UV protection, how different sunglass lens colors can positively/negatively affect the wearers’ perception of the environment, & how to effectively communicate features & benefits of specific lens colors in patient consumer driven language to meet stated visual needs.
Cow’s Eye DISSECTION
2 Hour ABO Hands-On Course, Limited Seating
Course Description: Course 204
This workshop is a hands-on dissection that will use real preserved Cow’s eyes to help the attendee better understand the inner workings of the eye. Attendees will explore the external and internal structures of the cow eye to better understand the principles of how the human eye anatomy contributes to vision.
Please note that this lab contains actual preserved specimens and we will be using sharp objects, such as scissors, scalpels and other instruments normally used for dissection purposes. Any attendee to this workshop must be aware of the nature of the lab, and observe ALL safety protocols at all times to keep themselves and fellow attendees safe. Any attendee that exhibits behavior that is deemed unsafe by the instructor may be asked to leave the workshop.
Vertex & Magnification

As free-form lenses and digital compensation become more prevalent, today’s opticians must understand vertex distance and compensation. By the end of this course, you will be able to understand the importance of vertex and how it affects power, measure vertex distance, adjust the lens power to compensate for vertex changes, identify how lens design impacts magnification, and calculate spectacle magnification and adjust accordingly.

What are ANSI Standards? It is a term we often hear in the industry, but what does it mean? Is it a law? Is it a manufacturing guideline? Is it a dispensing guideline? This course will help answer these questions for the in-office dispenser.

During this course, you will learn about the diseases that affect the eye and what it looks like to live with it. You will be able to move around the room and perform some challenges the disease presents.

This course will set you up for success to get the patient to their next appointment by repairing their eyewear. There will be supplies on hand that you will have to use to complete the challenge.
Sunglasses, Not just for summer anymore

In this presentation we’ll discuss the opportunity to increase sunglass sales in winter by recognizing winter specific sunglass needs as they pertain to the winter season: UV and environmental risks associated with outdoor winter activities.
